Sherry Caldwell leads the Ontario Disability Coalition (ODC), a group of parents, caregivers, health service professionals, and disabled individuals who want equal access to  treatments for people with developmental disabilities, regardless of their diagnosis.

According to Caldwell, part of the problem is that the Ontario Autism Plan (OAP) has inadvertently created a provincial disability plan that separates and excludes all other diagnoses that are not autism. As such, those non-autistic individuals are not getting equal access to treatments such as occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, vision therapy, etc so that can reach their fullest potential.
